7.22.13 - 4 months!

I really feel like Savannah is growing like a weed, and I mean that in the best way possible.  She's just growing WAY too fast for my liking.  I love that Aurora has been so tiny all along, and it makes me feel like Savannah is growing up faster--partly because she's bigger and partly because I feel like I don't get to sit down and soak in the newness and excitement of a tiny baby as much as I could with Aurora.  How we love our sweet little Savannah.  She makes my heart melt.

Savannah's 4 month stats:
Weight: 15 lbs 6.5 oz (74%)
Lenght: 25.5 inches (88%)
Head: 41 cm (61%)
(She had a bit of a growth spurt)

At FOUR months:
-Savannah has most definitely earned her nickname: "Smiles".  We love those smiles we get so often and seriously can't get enough of them!
-She has rolled over a couple of times, but mostly just rolls onto her side rather than all the way over.
-She is such a great sleeper and getting better and better at falling asleep on her own when we put her in her crib still awake.  She usually falls asleep while she's eating, which makes naps and bed time pretty easy at this point.
-She's getting really consistent with her nap schedule, and seems irritated when she doesn't get to nap at home in her bed if we're out and about during nap time. She takes a morning nap and an afternoon nap, and she sleeps all night but sometimes wakes up in the early hours of the morning to eat.  She always sleeps in her crib now.  How lucky are we to have such a great sleeper?!
-She takes her binky (Rori calls it "the bink") pretty well but still likes to suck her thumb a lot too.
-She still has not gotten out a good belly laugh but her giggles are pretty darn cute and coming more frequently, which we absolutely love!
-She interacts more with Aurora and I love seeing the two of them "playing" together as much as they can at this point.
-She loves her sister and lights up when Rori comes in the room and gives her a big smooch on her head.
-She has the cutest little pouty lip when she's sad.
-She can grab toys and put them in her mouth.  She loves to munch on stuff, and I'm really hoping she's not working on getting teeth yet!
-We've moved her up to size 3 diapers already--like I said, she's growing WAY too fast!!
-She's such a happy and pleasant baby!

Silly kids.

I tend to only post stuff when we have something exciting or "official" that we did.  But I love the random stuff that happens in between all that other stuff too.  I couldn't leave these random moments out :)

My cousin Alice let me borrow her baby floor toy thing (what do you even call these things anyway?) for Savannah. She loves it!  And since we got it she has rolled over a couple times as she reaches for the toys.  Yay!  Thanks, Alice!

Everyone likes the floor play thing, apparently.

"I wanna kiss 'im!"

Videos like this make me excited that the work of the Lord is progressing.  I love that Aurora loves temples and the Angel Moroni and asked to watch this video over and over and over again this morning.  She told us several times, "I wanna kiss 'im!"  I told her she just had to blow kisses to him :)  She made sure Savannah had the opportunity to kiss him too.  What a sweetheart.  I hope we get the chance to watch Moroni being placed on the two temples being constructed close by us in the next couple years too.  What a neat experience!

Ducks and a Kitten

We think it's the heat, but we suddenly had a bunch of bread in our pantry turn to the dark side, so we took the opportunity to go feed some local ducks on two different occasions.  In between the two duck feeding activities, we found a kitten in Papa and Gramma's back yard. Totally fun for Aurora :)
Duck Feeding Activity #1 - July 5th
These local ducks are well trained!  We had barely parked our car and gotten out before they were all heading across the parking lot to us ready to be fed :)

Found a cozy spot for duck feeding

Nice shades, Vannah!

Aurora was in love with feeding the ducks, and good at it too!

Lots of hungry ducks and geese

The two white ducks were very chatty with each other.  It was pretty cute :)

Beautiful mammatus clouds--we had a HUGE storm rolling in and once the thunder and lightning started we sped up our bread throwing.  I love clouds, especially storm clouds.  They make me happy :)  Weird.  I know.
 photo DSC01546_zps6235bdf3.jpg
We named this goose Honkey.  He/she wasn't very nice, and definitely a bread hog.
 photo DSC01548_zpsc5ad11c3.jpg
These birds are smart.  They knew when we were out of bread and headed back to the water.  I guess they got out of us what they wanted though.
 photo DSC01555_zpscfc990b8.jpg
After feeding the ducks we went into town on a quest for some kettle corn.  The wind picked up and we figured the vendors would be closing up shop quickly, so I jumped out of the car and ran to find the kettle corn booth.  As soon as I got there, you could almost see a wall of wind coming right at us, the gust was so big!  I got my kettle corn and raced back to the car.  Then, Rori said she needed to use the potty and there just happened to be some porta-john's right in front of where Dar had parked.  He grabbed her out of her seat and attempted the bathroom, but it was too scary for her because it was so loud.  Oh well.  As soon as they got back in the car the heavy rain hit.  It was so cool! :)  Aurora kept asking us to roll down her window, so Dar cracked it open a little bit for her and the rain came in the car.  The rain came down hard, and I slipped and fell on our slippery concrete just outside our condo, but it was all good.  We came inside and watched the rain and the wind for a bit before it died down.  My only complaint is that those awesome storms never last very long here.  I honestly wish they'd go a bit longer.  Those poor vendors though, bummer they had to try to clean up all their stuff in that storm.  I really only love those storms when I can sit and watch them and listen to the awesome thunder.  Being stuck outside in it isn't always so great :)

Found a Kitten - July 6th
Darwin has been working with his dad quite a bit this summer.  Sometimes the girls and I go over too to spend some time outside in the nice summer weather.  We love going to Gramma and Papa's house!
 photo DSC01558_zps5903c558.jpg
Aunt Georgiana was still here and we got to spend a little more time with her before she flew home that night.  I was helping Aurora on the teeter-totter and we could hear a little kitten mewing, but then it stopped.  It started up again a while later so I went to see if I could find it.  It was hiding inside a cinder block behind a stack of wood in the back yard by the garden. I don't think it wanted to be caught because it scratched me as I was trying to grab it.  It was a cute little kitten, and Aurora loved it!

Beautiful little Savannah, hanging out and observing as usual :)
 photo DSC01571_zps2e9b7ac3.jpg
Papa found a cage to keep it in so it wouldn't run away and so I didn't have to hold it the whole time.
 photo DSC01575_zps067b22f2.jpg
The kitty sounded sad and Aurora kept telling us it wanted its mommy and daddy--she was probably right
 photo DSC01577_zps63be0162.jpg
We didn't want to keep it, and we checked with several of the neighbors who didn't claim it, so we brought the kitty to the animal shelter.  Hopefully he/she'll get a nice home :)

Feeding the Ducks Again - July 8th
Aurora really enjoyed it the first time, and since we had more bread turn to the dark side over the weekend we decided to go feed the hungry ducks again.  This time she had the idea to pop some popcorn and bring that to feed the ducks too.  The ducks didn't seem to mind the popcorn, but the geese wouldn't eat it.  We're not sure why...anyone know?

We saw our mean friend, Honkey, again

Cute little family of ducks joining the party

Dar was able to feed several ducks and a couple fish from his hand.  Aurora did it once too, but once was enough for her.  She didn't like that the goose pecked her finger as it grabbed the bread from her.  We were just proud of her for trying it and succeeding!

There was a really pretty sunset that night.  I guess there were some fires around because the smoke made the sunset so red!!

Yay for fun summer activities!

4th of July 2013

The morning of the 4th we decided to be ambitious and get up super early with our two little girls to go see the hot air balloons, which didn't end up launching because of the weather, but we didn't know that they weren't going to launch until we got there.  Bummer.  On the plus side, we got a great parking spot, and we were able to attend a fund raiser breakfast we like to contribute to on the Fourth as well.  And...we weren't late for the parade this year either!  Woot! Woot!

When we told Aurora we were going to go see the hot air balloons she told us she wanted to see the piggy balloon again, a tiger balloon, and a baby balloon.  Since they didn't launch, we didn't get to see any of them except for a baby balloon!  Thanks to the forest rangers for providing this nice "baby" Smokey the Bear balloon to appease our two year old :)

I had to post a picture of her hair.  I can't tell you how proud I am that my 2.5 year old finally has enough hair to "fix" it cute :)
 photo DSC01439_zps0166f815.jpg
Aurora played with a couple of small hand fans for most of the parade.  I think they were more entertaining to her than the floats.  It's all good :)

How appropriate for Rori to be wearing her firefighter hat when the firetruck drove past ;)  And, she loved sitting by Angelica during the parade.  I think she found a new friend :)

Glow sticks are always a must while we wait for the fireworks.  Tracee made Savannah look like an angel :)
(And I just realized as I went back and looked at our post from Aurora's first 4th of July, they wore the same pajamas for the fireworks.  That was totally not planned.)

Our little glow stick lady--with as excited as she was to go see the "Boom-Boom's" she really didn't watch them much.
(Thanks to Gramma and Papa for providing the glow stick entertainment!)

We brought our fun fireworks glasses and our snowflake glasses this year too. Fireworks are awesome on their own, but it's fun to switch things up a bit sometimes :)

That night after we got home, I finally bit the bullet and put Savannah in her crib for the first time.  I honestly had a really hard time being okay with it, but she's an awesome sleeper and now we have a little more space in our bedroom with the bassinet out of there.
