Happy October

Believe it or not, October is here!! We are completely stoked for several reasons. With it being the first weekend in October we, as well as many of you, are looking forward to an exciting weekend of listening to a Prophet of God, along with the Apostles and other great Church leaders. I encourage you all to watch General Conference as some significant changes will be taking place. We will be getting a new counselor in the 1st General Presidency due to our dear President Faust's passing. We will also be receiving a new apostle to fill that vacancy as well. But, more important, is we get to listen to the word of God, directly from his servants' mouth. How much greater could things be? What a great time to live in!

Another reason for us to be excited is the changing of the leaves and the cooler temperatures. Autumn is one of our favorite times of year, and who doesn't love hot chocolate season? We were able to enjoy a nice joy ride a few Sunday's back. We drove up to Squaw Peak, at the mouth of Provo Canyon, to admire the beautiful leaves on the mountain. As we were driving, we discovered that the road just kept going, and going, and going. The bad thing was that the paved road turned into a dirt/rocky road that our little Suzuki Forenza probably shouldn't have been traveling on. Everyone we passed (none of them were cars by the way...they were all either trucks or 4-wheelers) looked at us as if we were crazy for taking our little car on the road. But, we had faith in our little car and fortunately, she stuck it out for us, and we made it saftely back out of Hobble Creek Canyon, in Springville. It only took us 3 hours (the drive really only takes about 15-20 minutes on the "normal" roads) but we enjoyed every bit of our little adventure.

And the third reason for us to be excited about October...HALLOWEEN! Although we still don't have many decorations to show our love of the festivities, we are doing the best with what we've got. Someday our collection of decorations will expand, but for now we enjoy the yummy smells, the excitement, and the beauty of the earth during this time of year. We hope you all enjoy this time of year as much as we do.

Arches Aniversary Trip

I guess it's true what they say...what do they say, you ask? Time flies when you're having fun, that's fo dang sho. Our 2nd anniversary has crept up on us in a sneaky sort of fashion. I can't believe it's here already! But we sure have loved every second of it. Last year for our anniversary we went to Park City, did a fun little horseback ride around the mountain, hit the Alpine slide and did some shopping. This year we celebrated a week early and took a trip down to Arches National Park. It was blooming hot, but we had a blast. We just stayed one night in Moab, and were extremely grateful when it finally cooled down a bit in the middle of the night and we were even blessed enough to have a light sprinkle. We awoke bright and early, had breakfast and hit the road towards the park. We only did 3 hikes, but we estimated we did about 9 miles that day. First we hiked Devil's Garden and saw Landscape Arch and Double O Arch. Darwin climbed up on top of the bottom O at Double O and scared just about everyone there who was watching. Sand Dune Arch was our next stop, as well as lunch break. Our last stop was Delicate Arch, which was beautiful beyond measure as always, but the hike up there was our grandest adventure. We started this hike around 2:00pm and at that time had the wonderful companionship of 97 degree weather, hardly a cloud in the sky. By the time we got back down, we were all hiked out and decided to head home. We are still in awe of God's beautiful creations and hope to make worlds just as beautiful some day. Anyway, 2 years is another milestone and we're on our way to the next with great anticipation of the adventures in store.

Harry Potter and The Deathly Hollows

As many of you may already know, the seventh and final book of the Harry Potter series was released at 12:01 am July 21, 2007. Kiara and I decided to take advantage of the opportunity to enjoy the enthusiastic fans at the book's release. There was quite an entourage of dedicated fans, many dressed up like the real thing. We thought we were at Hogwarts or Diagon Alley. The party was at the Barnes & Noble in Orem, which provided all participants with exciting activities. To mention a few, there was the Sorting Hat (which put Kiara in Ravenclaw and me in Slytherin), potion making, divination, wand dueling, face painting, the Three Broomsticks pub, and the ever feared Azkaban. By 11:00 pm we lined up out side to get our book. We had the sweet company of my sister Georgiana and our friends Matt and Sandy Bradley. 12:01 the doors opened and chaos began. Just kidding, it was well organized. By 12:45 we got our book, which was much sooner than for some I can say. I flipped to the end to read the finale, and it turns out that Voldemort is actually a WOMAN! Just pulling your leg again. Happy reading folks.

"I love weddings. Drinks all around!"

Hi Everyone,

This is Darwin and Kiara (a.k.a. Kiarwin to those family members that can't pronounce Kiara's name) and we are on a quest to let you know more about this Deming Clan. We met in September of 2004 in the Mapleton LDS Singles Ward and it was love at first sight...at least for Darwin. He just needed to flex his muscles for her, and she's been head over heels ever since. We started to date in November and after a week of dating, we decided to get hitched. It was a little nerve racking for both of us so we gave ourselves a nine month engagement to make sure we weren't crazy. But when it is right, it is right! We set the date for August 12, 2005 in the Bountiful LDS Temple. We soon found out that we fit together like puzzle pieces; compatibility of 110%! (Inter-commentary note: Kiara thinks I dance like Albert Brenaman on Hitch.) Our marriage has been incredibly easy for us, fortunately, and we highly recommend it to those of you who might be questioning jumping into the marriage pool. We have truly been blessed by a Higher Power to have found each other. We are coming up on our two year anniversary, but we're still on the honeymoon (if you know what I mean; wink, wink, nudge, nudge.) Stay tuned for exciting Deming adventures.
