Chalk the Block

On Friday I found out about a free two-day street art festival called Chalk the Block taking place at The Shops at Riverwoods in Provo.  We thought about going up on Friday, but I'm glad we waited until the second day so we could see the drawings more completed.  We really had a blast, and I'm so glad we went!  The festival was a fundraiser put on by a school called Clear Horizons, a school for kids with autism.  It was free for the public, but the artists had to pay a fee to compete.  What a cool fundraiser!

I'll just let the amazing chalk art speak for itself.  Hopefully the artists don't mind if I share their work with the blogging world :)

We liked this one.  It says "Hole to China."  Cute :)

The school putting on the fundraiser did this one.  A puzzle piece is the symbol for autism, and the sun is their school logo.

And I saved our favorite one for last.  We seriously LOVED this picture! :)
The Aussie kids shared their drink with Aurora
But she mostly liked eating the ice :)
There were a bunch of food and craft booths set up, and this awesome Zoltar machine.  Anyone seen BIG with Tom Hanks?
We don't make it up to Riverwoods very often, so we didn't know about the splash pad.  She should have had a swim diaper on, but there's no keeping this kid out of the water once she sees it and knows other kids are playing in it.  She was a little chilly afterwards, but she had a blast anyway :)

Thanks for coming with us, McSweeney's!  And what a great way to send out the summer!  This will definitely be on our list to do again next year.  We'll have to make this an annual event, eh?

She's her Daddy's daughter.

Our little munchkin was begging for "poppy" at 8:30 this morning.  She definitely takes after her Daddy and his love of popcorn.
Look at that grin :)
Mmm!
Luckily she takes after her Mommy too!

"Mo Money"

This girl of ours LOVES to dance to anything with a good beat, and she has a couple of fav's.  One is Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen.  She calls it the "baby" song, and asks to listen to "baby" all the time.  Another one is Price Tag by Jessie J.  When she was listening to it on Saturday she said "money" for the first time when she was singing along with the chorus (although she was saying Mommy at first and I had to correct her that Jessie J was singing "money").

It totally cracked up when she wanted the chorus on again and said "Mo money," not knowing the true meaning of the term.  Funny girl.

Monday Aurora discovered a new game.  She found a penny so I let her put it in our piggie (i.e. moose) bank, and she's loved "counting money" ever since.  I let her do it until she puts one of the coins in her mouth and then she gets to take a break for a while.  So gross!

I love that she actually tries to count as she's putting it in the moose.  Although she only says, "two...sree!" over and over again.  Love it!
