Art City Days 2015

June 11th through 13th: Art City Days
We love Art City Days every year when it comes around and it just gets more fun as our girls get older.

June 11th
This year we took our girls to the kids carnival--we have never done the kids carnival before, but it was definitely worth it!
Waiting in line to try a bouncy caterpillar thing.

The girls had to go into the caterpillar on their own and they did really well right until the very end--Savannah got stuck!  And scared.  Poor thing.  Aurora tried her best to try and help her get out, but to no avail.  I'm sure it was quite a sight to see me put my head inside the back end of the caterpillar to coax Savannah to come out. Haha! It makes me laugh just thinking about it :)

They really liked the bouncy/blow up things!

I love Savannah's air, and her curls, in this picture :)

The girls and I went on a little train ride. We waited in line for a long time and the actual ride was maybe 3 minutes.  The joys of carnivals, right?  At least the girls were happy!

Aurora got her hair colored.  She thought it was pretty much the coolest thing ever and can't wait to do it again next year. Haha!

Savannah didn't want hers colored at first but finally decided she wanted it done too!

The girls got tattoos

While we were waiting in line for the swings, it started raining and the swings were shut down for a while.  We didn't want to wait in line for a ride that wasn't going, so we went for some more fun in the bounce houses! A little rain can't dampen our Art City Days fun!

The rain stopped pretty quickly and the swings were back in business!

Aurora was hilarious to watch.  She started making silly faces at us every time she passed us.  Funny girl!

I'm not sure where she came up with the idea, but she recently started trying to see if she can touch her nose with her tongue.  Since then, she's found out she has at least two cousins who can touch their nose with their tongue!

Savannah loved this ride enough they had to do it twice.  It took a little convincing to get Aurora to ride it again with her sister, but she was a good sport. Savannah took her shoes off as soon as the ride started this time.  She did really well to not drop them!

After some time at the kids carnival, it was time to go home and have a nap so we could have more carnival fun in the evening.  I'm grateful when both girls take naps.  It makes for a happy momma!  That night we met up with Grandma and Grandpa for some dinner and fun at the big carnival.  The girls couldn't wait to ride the merry-go-round!

I'm glad Savannah is big enough this year to ride the rides with Aurora.  The last couple of years we've had to go with friends just to get Aurora to consider getting on the rides.  It's such a great thing to have a built-in friend when you have a sister!

Savannah didn't mind the roller coaster, and Aurora rode it with Orlando last year, but she didn't care for it this time.  When she got off of the ride she asked us why we put her on it in the first place.  Whoops!

The next day I had to go into work for a little bit, so Daddy took the girls to the kids art festival while I was gone.
They had a lot of fun making things together!

They made their own kites! And they really do fly when there's a good enough breeze.

Then the girls got their faces painted.  I'm impressed they both sat so well to have it done!

June 13th
After an early morning of going to see Daddy finish his 1/2 marathon (that post to come later), we went to watch the parade!

I guess we didn't get many pictures that day, but that night we went to the fireworks too.  Savannah fell asleep on our way to the high school (about a 5 minute drive) and slept until the fireworks started.  I'm not sure who planned it, but the sprinklers turned on in the field we, and a bunch of other people, were sitting in!  Luckily we had sat just to the side of one sprinkler head and didn't end up getting wet.  Jared and Don had to keep repositioning the sprinkler head though.  It was pretty funny, and good memories for sure! Haha!

Happy Art City Days!  Until next year...
