June

June was a fun month.
We did a lot of fun things.
I'll try to get as many things posted right here as I can :)  Here goes!

June 1st: Hotdogs and S'mores
One of our favorite things to do in the summer time is roast hotdogs and s'mores with the girls.  It's fun that they are getting big enough to do "big kid" things, like cook their own hotdog over an open fire.  We did have a little bit of a scare when Savy tried to touch the hotdog end of her cooking stick after pulling it out.  Luckily she didn't get burned.  It sure spooked me though!

S'mores are the best!  And we're super lucky to have a Daddy who is the best s'more cooker ever!  I haven't made myself a s'more in years because his s'mores are THAT awesome!

I think we determined that Aurora has some outdoor allergies to add to her list of food allergies.  Her eye got really puffy and watery while we were cooking our dinner.  This is the first year she's shown signs of outdoor allergies.  We now carry benadryl in our bag right next to her epipen.  Poor thing.

June 3rd: Savannah's Goose-egg
The one downside to when we purchased our Pilot was that our salesguy (who was really great, by the way) somehow misplaced our 2nd key and our manual and couldn't locate them anywhere, so we ended up having to go back up to the dealership for them to make us a second key.  While we were there, the girls were playing in the really fun playroom and Savannah somehow fell off the kid slide and whacked her forehead on one of those metal dividers you see between big commercial windows.  It didn't really bleed, and it definitely wasn't deep enough to need stitches, but it did break the skin and left her with a pretty massive goose-egg for a few days.  These pictures don't do justice at all to how big her goose-egg really was. The dealership was really great about the whole thing though.  Immediately there were like five employees bringing us ice.  A couple asked if we needed them to call someone or if they could take us to the hospital to get her checked out.  Luckily she ended up being okay with just a permanent scar and a big goose-egg.  She's a trooper though and was smiling by the time we got home.

Happy girl again and munching on a cracker :)

The next day, our sales guy called Darwin to check on Savannah and told us the dealership had removed the slide from the playroom after we left.  We felt bad that other kids don't get to play on the fun slide anymore, but we were really impressed with their thoroughness to make sure it doesn't happen again!

June 6th: Splash pad attempt
One evening we headed to the splash pad and as soon as we got there it started to pour!  We figured it didn't really matter because the girls were already prepped to get wet and in their swimsuits.  I'm a bit of a chicken and stayed in the car, but Darwin and the girls had fun playing in the splash pad and the rain for a little while. It only lasted a few minutes until the girls got too cold to stay, but it was fun while it lasted!
