Monday - August 10th
Drift Creek Falls Trail
Uncle Ryan was finally able to join us in the wee hours of the morning on Monday. I think he got in around 6:30am after a 16 hour drive, with only stopping for 1 hour to sleep along the way. It's a LONG drive! He was pretty tuckered out, so he stayed home to sleep (or walk along the beach) while the rest of us went for a hike at Drift Creek Falls.
But, before the hike was a huge highlight of the trip at the beach house!
(I didn't get any photos of it, but we did get some pretty good video clips).
There was a pod of humpback whales feeding in the ocean for several hours that morning, and we got to watch them from the deck of the beach house! It was so neat to watch them come up for air before they dove down deep into the water. We watched them for a good hour before we left on the hike, and they were still there when we got back! So far, we've seen whales on every trip I've been on to Oregon. Love it!
The hike was really not too bad, but hard for little kids, especially at nap time. Both girls were carried a majority of the hike, which made it harder for the adults carrying them. :)

Rori is Aunt Geo's shadow whenever they are together :)
The ones who started it all! ;) Such happy hikers!
The girls thought the "heart" leaves were pretty awesome :)
Savy starting to look sleepy
The leaders of the pack
Cuties!
A little stream along the trail
Such beautiful scenery!
Waiting for the others to catch up so we could stay together as a group
We finally made it to the highlight of the hike! A suspension bridge 240 feet long! I'm not sure how high off the ground it is, but it's pretty darn high!
A shot of the bridge
And there's the waterfall!!
Silly kid, looking up :)
Getting closer to the other end
A head-on view of the waterfall
It made some of us a little nervous to walk across the bridge!
Three of us on the bridge
Our whole family! :)
Another shot of the suspension. You really have to just see it/experience it in person!
Our cuties admiring the waterfall
Beautiful girl!
Aunt Georgiana hiked down to the falls while our little family headed back to the car. Our girls were getting pretty tired at this point. Savannah cried when she saw Aunt Georgiana down by the falls. I think she was scared for her. Little sweetie!
Savannah fell asleep on the hike back and Darwin and I had to take turns carrying her. Poor little thing!
Glass Blowing
We had to hurry and get back because Darwin had an appointment to try his hand at glass blowing! It was pretty fun to watch, although I had the girls with me and missed a good chunk of what he did because I was paying attention to the girls and keeping them out of trouble :)
To get the colors you want, the hot glass is rolled in smaller colored glass pieces. It ends up turning out really cool in the end!
Rolling the glass pieces into the hot, melted glass
Back into the kiln
Taking shape!
Getting closer!
After he was done with his glass float, it had to sit and cool for at least 24 hours, so we had to go back and pick it up the next day. Because of that, we didn't get a picture of the finished product yet, but I'll try to remember to take a picture and add it in later :)
Mike and Andrea had appointments to make glass floats after Darwin was done. They all loved the experience! Aurora says I have to do it the next time we go :)
Dinner and then S'mores on the beach
Right after glass blowing, we headed home to get dinner put together and to enjoy some time with one of Darwin's cousins, Steve, and his Uncle Jim who came to visit for a few hours because they only live about an hour away from Lincoln City. It's always fun to meet up with extended family!
Our girls and their new friend/cousin :) They LOVE cousins!
Ryan, Georgiana, and Savannah playing in the sand
Darwin is seriously the best S'more maker ever! I haven't made one for myself in years because he's so great at it and always so willing to make one for me. Thanks, babe. I love you!
It was another great day in Lincoln City!
