Spring Break Week

With a new baby at our house, spring break was pretty low-key this year,  but it was perfect!

General Conference
Spring break started off with General Conference weekend.  It's one of my favorite times of the year when we get to listen to a true prophet and other leaders for two whole days!
It was fun for all of us to snuggle up and get cozy together!

Working in the Garden
Because we're living at Grandma and Grandpa's house right now, it was easier for us to get the garden planted earlier this year.  The weather during spring break was perfect for getting the garden started!  Darwin and the girls furrowed one day and then planted a couple days later.  I helped by taking care of Talmage and played the role of supervisor :)

We have LOTS of Box Elder Bugs right now.  The girls were scared of them at first and then became fascinated with them.

We took advantage of the warmer weather and roasted hot dogs for the first time this year.

It was a little chilly so I bundled up Talmage.

The girls loved that we let them roast their own hot dogs and marshmallows.  They did great!

Aurora was our little perfectionist.  She wanted to make sure she had them spaced out perfectly.  I had to keep reassuring her that she was doing a great job and to not worry about the spacing so much.

Savy did a great job too!  She was a little faster with getting her row done because she wasn't as concerned about the spacing of the seeds as much, and she had some help from Daddy.

After they got all the seeds in the ground, it was time to lay out the soaker hoses.

Aurora was a great helper and told us she wants to be a "hose worker" when she grows up :)

She got bored after a while and decided it was more fun to play in the dirt with Savannah.

It's been fun to watch the veggie plants poke up out of the ground over the last few weeks.  We can't wait to eat them when they're ready!

I took him in for his two week appointment and we don't go back until he's two months, so here are Talmage's 2 week stats:
Weight: 8 lbs 6.5 oz (49%)
Length: 20.5 inches (43%)
Head: 35 cm (22%)

Our handsome little man.  I can't believe he's a month old already!

Talmage at 1 month old:
-He's already on a pretty routine/fairly predictable schedule.
-He eats about every three hours during the day and wants to eat about every four hours at night.
-He's our best eater so far.
-He prefers to nurse over eating from a bottle, but he takes a bottle okay.
-Talmage has acid reflux and spits up a lot. We've started him on some medication that seems to help him not feel so uncomfortable.
-He only takes a binky occasionally and it takes some convincing for him to take it.
-He tolerates his sisters holding him but prefers to be held by Mom or Dad.
-He loves to  be held and snuggled but likes it best if we stand up and/or walk around with him when he's tired.
-He has already grown out of his newborn sized clothes and we're putting him in size 1 diapers already too.
-Talmage does okay on car rides but he really only likes his car seat if it's in motion.
-So far, he doesn't really like bath time.
-He has his Daddy's beautiful blue eyes :)
-He is already holding his head up really well!
-He hardly ever cries.
-Talmage is such a great baby!  He's super mellow and he's such a joy to have around.

We're so happy you're in our family, Talmage!

Nastassia Day!

Believe it or not, it has been 4 years since Nastassia was born.  In some ways, it feels like it was yesterday.  Not a day goes by that I don't think about her still.  There are so many things that happen in our everyday lives that remind me of her and I long to be with her again some day!

We were so lucky to have Daddy home with us all day for Nastassia Day again this year because he was home for spring break.  We packed up a yummy lunch and took the girls to a park to play for a while.

It made me a little nervous to watch her climb up this ladder, but she did it just fine.

Aurora stayed on the swing for a long time.  She's working on learning how to pump her legs.

It's always nice to take a family day and set it aside to honor our little angel baby.  She is in our hearts every single day.

We love you, Nastassia Grace!
