Day 6
We got up early and drove up to Otter Rock to see what's called Devil's Punch Bowl. We wanted to get there at low tide so we could walk around inside of it. We got there pretty much right as the tide was changing, and it worked out great!
We had to walk through the cold ocean water to get to the inside of the Punch Bowl

This is where the water comes in
Me and the girls at the entrance
You can see people walking around inside of it behind us

After checking out the punch bowl we explored in the sand for a while.
Aurora discovered that when you sink your feet into the wet sand, sometimes sand crabs will bite your skin. Ouch!
A nice man gave Aurora some seashells he found
(notice the bright red crab in the sand behind her--no worries, it's dead)
Me and my Savy girl
Such great buddies!
She loved walking around in the ocean water
This girl likes her some feathers!
After exploring in the sand we had a picnic in the grass (pictures to come later, maybe) while we waited for the tide to come in a bit to see what the Punch Bowl looked like with water in it.
A view from the top, only a couple hours into the tide coming in
Aurora and Aunt Georgiana marched around together playing "Captain" - It was pretty cute :)
Then we headed back up to Lincoln City to meet up with Darwin's cousin, Steve and his family, for dinner at Mo's. The girls slept the whole way and then most of the time we were at the restaurant.
I love that Rori kept falling asleep with stuff in her hands on this trip :)
Oh, how I love this man!
Mo's is a place that's known for it's yummy seafood. When we were looking at the menu, Dar said, "Let me guess, chicken strips?" By this point chicken strips were getting a little old (although I really do love them!) and I ordered a hamburger this time instead. I was a happy girl.
The ride back to the beach house was adventurous. We had learned shortly before our trip that Savannah gets really angry if she gets hungry and I can't feed her within a few minutes. When you're on the road it's not always easy or convenient to pull over immediately, and we definitely experienced the hungry wrath of Savannah several times on this trip. She's such a sweet baby though. We'll keep her!
Day 7
Thursday was kind of a down-day for everyone. The rest of the fam who caught my cold felt pretty yucky and needed a day to just stay home and rest. For those of us who were feeling okay, we stayed close to home to explore some more. It was the rainiest day of our trip but we didn't mind at all.
Watching the waves.
That's Georgiana taking a picture of something in a tide pool. Can't tell it's her in that awesome rain poncho :)
We liked the green anemone. We called them "squishies".
The best shot we got of the 3 of us--too bad Rori's not looking. Savannah was in the house taking a nap.
After Geo took this picture for us, Savy woke up and I went inside to be with her. I knew she hadn't napped very long so I napped with her some more while Dar, Rori, and Geo built more sand castles. Pretty nice sand castle if I do say so myself!
Dar found this driftwood log and worked really hard to get it deep enough in the sand that it would stay during the tide change. It was his measuring stick, of sorts, for seeing the change in the tide.
She totally cracks me up :)
This is her ROAR pose
The stick after the tide had come in for a while
After some good naps and lots of resting, the family was feeling better and we all decided to go for a walk before bed. It was a chillier day so I bundled Savy up in this cute outfit my little sister wore when she was a baby.
I guess because it had been drizzling most of the day and it was more wet than usual, the ginormous slugs came out. We saw lots of these slugs. Yuck!
On our walk we saw the neatest sunset. I've never seen one like it before, probably because we don't live on the coast. It was really cool to watch the sun set behind the ocean fog/mist.
After a while there was a break in the clouds and fog/mist that made the sky look like it had an inverted contrail.
We really had pretty good weather most of our trip. We packed for really chilly, wet days, but we actually had quite a bit of sunshine every day we were there. The weather was much different than our last trip, even though we were there the same time of the year.
One more post on our vacation after this and I think that should do it!
