We had our last turn for irrigation on September 10th. It was a chilly morning! The water is always really cold too, so I was a little surprised when the girls said they wanted to go do irrigation with Daddy. So, I bundled them up a bit and sent them outside with Daddy.
Ready to go out for the chilly irrigation!
After a little while the girls and Daddy came inside saying they found a monarch butterfly! It was alive but too cold to fly. They brought it inside to show me. Monarch butterflies are my favorite. So beautiful!
Savannah wanted to have a turn to hold it. She was very gentle!
She said it tickled her hand :)
After being inside for just a few minutes it started to warm up and flap its wings.
Such a beautiful butterfly!
In no time it had warmed up enough that it started flying around the living room! Daddy had to gently catch it and put it back outside to set it free. It was definitely a super special and exciting morning to have a monarch butterfly in our house! :)
On September 19th we went up the canyon for family home evening and a picnic to enjoy the leaves changing color for autumn.
On our drive up the canyon--the trees look kind of dead in this picture but it was pretty in real life!
While we were looking for a good place to have our picnic we saw some wild turkeys. The girls loved it! Talmage fell asleep and missed most of the trip up the canyon.
Having a picnic!
Pretty fall colors in the background!
The camera just never does it justice.
On our drive back down we stopped to watch a deer for a little bit. She stopped to watch us too :)
Also on our drive back home Savannah saw a sign on the side of the road (I think it was a speed limit sign) and said: "That sign says 'Please don't touch the branches cuz they change colors.'" :) Cute kid!
Happy autumn time!
