Beekeeping: First on the list of what Hubby has been up to...you may remember this post I did back in May about Dar's new hobby: beekeeping. Well, he's had the bees for a few months now and is totally in love with having a beehive. He thinks he may eventually want to make a side business out of it. Well, back in June we took some pictures and video of Dar checking his hive for the first time. He was in heaven :)
Donning his official bee hat and veil
And just because it's pretty cool and fascinating, here's some short videos we took when Dar was checking his hive:
1/2 Marathon: Just a week after school got out back in June, Dar ran his first half marathon! I'm seriously so proud of him!! He didn't have as much time to train as he hoped but he still did awesome and met all his goals and says he'd like to do it again :)Here he comes!! (In the black and red striped shirt)
His actual time was 2:19:22. Seriously awesome!
There were thousands of people running it, so not everyone gets to cross the starting line right at the beginning.

I wanted to do something special for Darwin to show him how proud I was of him, but I was very last minute and ended up just putting Aurora in a onesie that I wrote "Daddy is my HERO" on. She smelled like permanent marker all day :)
Good job, babe!! We're so proud of you for setting that goal and reaching it! Maybe I'll do it with you next time. Maybe. The Professor: At the end of June, Dar started teaching at UVU as an adjunct professor! I knew he loved it when I picked him up after his first day teaching and he had the BIGGEST smile on his face :) Teaching college is pretty different from teaching junior high, as anyone can imagine. That's what's been keeping him so busy this summer. He teaches for almost 3 hours a day Monday through Thursday, but he spends most of his time preparing his lessons and weekly quizzes. He's had some late nights staying up to prepare for the next day, and yesterday I caught him snoozing while he was supposed to be working :)
It's been an intense summer semester block--only 7 weeks long from start to finish. But he really does love it. He even decided to take on another class in the fall! Luckily it's Intro to Oceanography, which is a class he's already been teaching this summer so he won't have as much prepping he'll have to do. And the supplemental income is nice too. I'm not complaining. But in all seriousness, we're both glad he has the opportunity to teach at the college level and that he's liked it so much so far. We may even see a Ph. D. in our future? Stay tuned to find out!

Dan really wants to get into the beekeeping thing now that he saw yours! I don't know, it's going to take some convincing! Great job on the 1/2 marathon!
