We signed the girls up for Story Time with Santa at the mall again this year. Honestly we were a bit disappointed with it this year and decided it's not really worth the cost and we probably won't do it again. The first disappointing thing was that they served macaroni and cheese for dinner. It seems like most kids love mac-and-cheese but our kids don't. With Aurora's dairy allergy she couldn't have mac-and-cheese for a long time and now that she can eat it, she doesn't like it. I can understand that.
We're well aware that our kids don't like mac-and-cheese so we weren't going to force them to eat it. Instead, we encouraged them find an activity they wanted to do, and of course they wanted to make sugar cookies first. We were then told by the lady at the sugar cookie table that they needed to eat their dinner first. Umm...Excuse me, but I'm the parent and can decide if my kids need to eat their dinner first before making a sugar cookie. Oh, well. So instead of making a sugar cookie they decorated a pizza box as the provided craft. Again, not a thriller for us but the girls seemed to enjoy it well enough.
They got some fun face painting done before they collected their dinner.
Of course things got super exciting when Santa and Mrs. Claus showed up!
Aurora sat with the group but Savannah preferred to stay at the table next to me this time.
Savy at the table listening to Santa and Mrs. Claus
Mrs. Claus is great at reading Christmas stories!
She doesn't always love for us to take her picture so I had to be kind of sneaky about it ;)
Aurora telling Santa that she wanted a stuffed zebra for Christmas.
Savannah didn't want to talk to Santa at first so she played in the window display - a choo-choo train big enough to climb in!
Aurora and Talmage joined in on the fun too!
Savannah agreed to talk to Santa if she could sit on my lap. Santa and Mrs. Claus were totally okay with that. They're pretty cool! Talmage could care less at this point ;)
Santa talking to Talmage. Love it!
And finally at the very end, our kids got to decorate a sugar cookie.
Talmage waited very patiently for the girls to finish up.
Savannah and her delicious sugar cookie!
Aurora with her delicious sugar cookie! :)
As part of story time with Santa, we got a photo voucher to come back to the mall and get a free picture with Santa. We went back a few days later and the girls got to sit on his lap again and we got a family photo. It didn't scan in very well and Aurora's eyes are a little goofy, but it's always fun to see Santa Claus and enjoy a little holiday festivity!
